Farmers Market.....

Our "down town" has a farmers market which runs from May until the beginning of September. We only went once this year. It's usually too hot to take the kids. We went in June and it wasn't too terribly hot. The kids had fun dancing to the live entertainment and eating snow cones.

Jake & Wyatt......

These pictures were taken in June. This is my friend Sherry's baby, Wyatt. He turned 1 in July. He's 10 months younger than Jake . We took the kids to breakfast one morning and Jake was mesmerized by Wyatt. He's not used to having another baby around so he wasn't quite sure how to act. They kept each other company and played with their toys while we ate.

Playing Dress Up....

I remember playing dress up when I was little. My mom had a box of grown up clothes that I would play with and dress up in. These clothes included a wedding dress and various other girly clothes.

Playing dress up with boys means something completely different than what I was familiar with. I found a package deal of super hero clothes online so I ordered them for the boys. They love pulling out the box and putting on the capes and masks and showing mommy and daddy how silly they are.

New Profile Pic.....

I'm posting pictures out of order today because I'm sharing the latest family pics we took at the fair. I've mentioned in the past that whenever we go to the fair we get in a photo booth and take pics together. Here are the pics for 2007.

I chose 2 of the pics to be our new "profile picture" which you can see up above this post. Jake was only looking at the camera in the very last picture. He didn't really understand what we were doing. Garrett was very aware of what was going on ( as you can see). We had a fun time at the fair with our whole family and I took lots of pictures which I will share soon.

Box Cart Races.....

On June 2nd Garrett participated in his first official Box Cart Race. The races are held every year at a local park and are sponsored by the fire department. Our friends were involved last year and they invited Garrett to participate this year. He was part of a team of about 20 kids ages 4-12. Each age group has their own heat and they take turns, one by one, going down a pretty fast hill in a home made box cart. There were about 20 different teams so there were a lot of kids.

We weren't sure that Garrett would really go down the hill by himself. We were told that most of the 4 year olds get scared when they are up on the hill and they decide not to go down. We talked to Garrett before the race and tried to prepare him for what he would be doing. He kind of looked unsure but he ended up doing it! We were so proud of him. I think it helped that he loves the movie "Cars" and we compared the experience to the movie. When he was done we ran over to him and he said "Mom, can I do it again?". He had so much fun!

He didn't get one of the fastest times but we didn't care. We were just happy that he went down the hill and kept his car straight. Each kid got a participation trophy which was pretty cool. Now he has his first trophy! Even Jake had a great time watching all the cars go down the hill. He sat on my lap for a long while and clapped when the cars went by. We had a great time and we look forward to participating every year from now on. We also can't wait to get Marissa and Jake involved in the years to come.
